Inspired by a light hearted feature by national Football magazine, Four Four Two, in which they listed the 100 biggest Football nutters, I have decided to shed the light on Wearside's own crazy candidates.

This poll is based on personal opinion; however the word nutter is not entirely used in the context of the insane. A SAFC nutter can also claim to be a red and white at heart, giving their all for our beloved club.

And so without further a do, let’s pay homage to this unique club of eccentrics, hard bastards and the downright insane.

We hope you enjoy it and that it provokes many a heated debate between fellow Mackems over a pint, or seven.
