Before you judge me just read the review and then you will realise that I am not some six-year-old kidder playing on a game for six year old kidders. The reason behind my decision to review this game was to inform the nation and army of ALS readers about the possibility of buying this game for their little ones.
Curious George may be aimed at a younger audience but I even think that people over the age of three months will get bored and frustrated at the games overly repetitive mini games and extremely simplistic plat forming. But then again when you consider the age group it’s aimed for it does exactly what it ses on the tin, making it easy for the little nippers to win, thus avoiding tantrums and the breaking of consoles after being thrown in a fit of childish rage.
Few children’s story characters have sustained as well and as long as Curious George. The perpetually inquisitive monkey has captured children's hearts with his good-natured antics since the early 1940s. Odd as it may sound but it has taken until 2006 for a full-length animated film based on Curious George to find its way to theatres. Just let us know if you want a review of the film and we’ll happily tell you where to go (that’s code for: please send us a copy and we’ll let you know our thoughts).
Now the not so odd news, it has taken until 2007 to make a game dedicated to the monkey we all love to hate.
The game mixes in some of the animated scenes from the film with a healthy dose of plat forming action and some goofy, rhythmic mini games. Unfortunately, as history has so often shown, plat formers based on children's films tend to be overly simplistic, overly repetitive, and overly brief. Haven’t I already said that? Let’s move quickly on.
If you have a kid of your own and you appear to know one then this will be a short and sweet experience for you and your partner. Even though the game is relatively short the fact that your nipper will kick arse and undoubtedly come to victory means that you get a few hours peace and a smiley kid at the end of it. Now you can’t buy this anywhere but at Curious George. Thank you for your time.
